How To Preserve Muskrat glands « Thread Started on Oct 8, 2009, 12:14pm »
I need to know what the best method of preserving muskrat glands. Or do they last without adding any preservative. Any thoughts or ideas would be great.

I've heard it better to put them in a zip-loc bag and put that in a paper bag or butcher paper like butcher's use to put steaks in and like what they put the deer meat in when you get it back from the processor. I've also heard using 100 proof everclear or vodka and just cover glands to preserve them. You might use some muskrat urine to just cover the glands to do the same. If you use the alcohol or urine, then you don't have to freeze it. I keep my glands, lures, baits in my hunting/traapping room in my garage thats under a controled temp. same as the house. My urine, fresh glands, bobcat meat etc... are in a chest freezer then before trapping season I move the urine to my trapping fridge in the gradge. I guess I don't have to tell you, my wife hates the garage!! Hope this kind of helps you some!
