Should a person add any fiber or filler? I was thinking more along the lines of sweetening it up.

Bacon grease with a shot of cooking oil to keep it liquid after it cools, add a tiny drop of liquid smoke and stir to mix before it cools. Stand back, and watch the coon fight over it. Better if it has a few tiny chunks of bacon in it. Greys are attracted to it early season, too.

That should work fine. I like to mix bacon grease & lanolin in a 60/40 mix.....makes a great waterproof base for any coon bait.

Just put this together- 1/4 part bacon grease (Hickory smoked) 1 spoon full beaver castor, 1/2 tea spoon catnip (dried - like the kind you get at a pet store), fill the rest of the bottle up with vegetable oil. I'm letn it set out in the sun for a week. We will see what it will catch.. wish me luck...lol

used bacon grease w/ a little castor, made a mock set, (after season), and I don`t know about coons, but the red fox dug a hole in frozen ground to get at it!
